In New England
After waterfalls and fast flowing streams in the previous post I turn to lakes and calmer rivers surrounded by the colours of the autumn season in New England. The first two images are from New Hampshire and the following two from Vermont.
One of the most famous roads to experience the autumn colours in the USA must certainly be the Kancamagus Highway along the White Mountains in New Hampshire. We drove along it several times and stopped at different viewpoints to take the trails along rivers or to waterfalls or covered bridges. The image below is of the Swift River looking west at the hills of the White Mountains.
But the final image is the one I really love, because it was so unexpected! The last night, before we reached the luxurious abode of our friends Peter and Kathleen in Jamestown, we stayed at a simple motel in Sturbridge Massachusetts. It was dark and misty, when we arrived in the evening and we carried our luggage across to the room without seeing anything of our surroundings. But when we woke up the next morning and opened the curtains this was the view that met us.
