Getting ready to go back to Smogen
The christening of Adèle took place the day after our wedding. 230 persons had accepted our invitations to come to Marstrand for two days of celebrations, the 4th and 5th of August. We started in Gothenburg, where we boarded a steam ship, St Erik, that took us to Marstrand through the archipelago north of Gothenburg.
The christening itself took place at the Marstrand harbour on the afternoon of the 4th. In the evening we had a dinner for everyone at Sociteten and late at night we offered a “vickning” (a late night meal) at Marstrands Värdshus. The day after we had a lunch at Carlsten’s Fästning (The Fortress of Carlsten).
After those two days we sailed with friends. On the 5th and 6th of August we sailed first from Marstrand to Smögen with 50 guests aboard. We stopped for a walk on the island of Lilla Kornö and served prawns (in a paper bag). In the evening most of our guests stayed at a hotel in Smögen and we brought the guests to the island of Hållö for a dinner on the skerries. Our friends were given portable BBQs and had to prepare the BBQ dinners themselves on the rocks.
After several days of partying it was time for a short overhaul of Adele before we went sailing again. Read and see the pictures of our further adventures aboard Adèle on our tab about Adèle.
The next family adventure on this tab is from 2007, when Jennifer and I stepped ashore again and sold Adèle after two years of sailing.
