On a windy and rainy Saturday in November Mikee invited some of her friends to a belated birthday party (She turned  13 a month earlier when she participated in Tarka the Otter at Exeter Cathedral). The party took place the same Saturday as both Eric and Mikee had their schools’ Christmas Fairs. Mikee spent the  morning at Maynard’s selling her Honeycomb and Fudge Treats, and as she couldn’t leave before she brought in lots of money for the school, Mikee with the help of her classmates succeeded  in selling everything.

Meanwhile Eric and I spent our time at St John’s Christmas Fair free from all the silly girls (Eric’s judgement).

Jennifer together with Greg (Grendel’s father) picked up the girls and brought them to the Waterfront, a former warehouse converted into a charming and homely restaurant at the riverside in Exeter. They served enormous pizzas (30 inches long). After lunch the girls came home to Knightstone, where Jennifer had arranged a pamper party for them. They had their nails done and head, shoulder or feet massage.

And afterwards they roamed around the manor and invaded Riza’s bedroom to sing karaoke. Later in the evening some of the parents arrived to join the party. We served fun buns (burgers) and posh dogs  and finished with a variety of puddings, all expertly prepared by PoshNosh. It gave Jennifer and I a great opportunity not only to meet the girls at home but to get to know some of the parents as well.
