Philippines Jan 2009

After Christmas Luz and Mikee went back to the Philippines and Mikee took up school there. Life returned to a new normal in Devon, but we were soon off to the Philippines again.

We stayed the first days in Manila and met our scholars and took part in the inauguration of the new school that had been built by contributions from Kerstin and Karl-Axel Granlund. It was a great ceremony and Fr Eric felt very proud to be able to offer this schooling opportunities to children in need.

After that Eric, Jennifer and I went to Boracay, a little sandy island in the Visayas. Eric wasn’t too sure of the water but loved the sand. We came back to Manila and the picture with all the scholars on the steps of Shangdi-La were from the evening we spent in Manila.

Then our final journey was down to Bicol and the little town of Barcelona, where Luz lives and where we stayed with the family again. And here we met up with Mikee again and visited her at church and at her school that she had been away from for half a year.
